Anybody picked this bad boy up ??

Just got it today and played the 1st level.
It has some fairly bad crontrol moments at times, but god damn, that's one cool and stylish old skool game :D

I already don't want it to end !!!

You silly sausage !!
You could be at home right now having an explosion of game right in your face :)
(the best way I can think to put it)

I thought it was ok, motion controls were quite nicely done and the general style of the game is nice. However once you get to the large free-roaming city bit, the graphics look terrible, really bad pop-up and low draw distance put me off it completely.

It isn't all about the graphics.

no of course not, but when a next-gen game has such terrible draw distance compared to last gen games like vice city or something, then its a big drawback. It wouldn't put me off the game, but its definitely a big negative. Graphics aren't everything, but they are something.

I don't think the draw distance is all that bad as people make out.
But the outside drivey bits do seem a bit tacked on and control awfully at times.

That's not the core of the game though, that's just a means from getting from fun point A to fun point B :)

I think the graphics and the draw distance are intentionally like that. If you look at the game overall its going for that 16bit blocky look and suda51 is all about art style.

Just played it for a couple of hours, and while some of the touches are really cool, the gameplay seems quite samey to me, and the graphics look horrid via component (and I don't mean the intentional retro blocky stuff).

Was expecting a lot from what people have said, but like most Wii games there is nothing here that will drag me away from the PS3 or 360.

Right, just beaten the 3rd assassin and I'm still buzzing on it.
More stuff keeps getting unlocked the more you play, and I'm finding you really need to change your tactics and keep your cool to beat the bosses.

Also I keep watching the Heavenly Star music video :D

By any chance, did you forget it was a Wii game ? :p

Im sure people have told me its more powerful than the Xbox though. Id expect crappy graphics from weekly mini game compilation #7 but from a game designed specifically for the Wii, aimed at a less casual market, I just expected better

You'll be an Otaku yourself if you're not careful.

It is more powerful than an X-box, but does that mean every game HAS to push the graphics capabilities to the limit ??
Should every game be shiny and pretty ?
Of course not, the raw and highly stylised comic book look of the game suits the mood, theme and humor of the game perfectly.

Beautiful games are 10 to the dozen these days, but it takes something special to actually have style !!

please read my post before you reply in the future. I said the style of the game is very nice, however trees popping up as i drive around is not. You can have the graphical style and still have it run well. You are getting completely mixed up, Im not asking for it to be super realistic or 'shiny'

Thanks for clearing it up Don :)

Did you have to delete my last on topic post though?

Oh well, the question was how much has the european version of this game been censored? Because I've only played the Japanese version and its quite extreme.

I haven't seen the Euro version yet but I thought they just did the same as the Japanese one with the bloodless enemies exploding into coins.. unless they went further and started cutting the swearing? Played through the US version myself and if you likes the blood its very nice in an over the top kind of way. There's no Heavenly Star video goodness though.. just that cheesy first trailer of the game when it was announced way back whenever.
