well it used to be okay in here but now its getting out of hand im sure a lot will agree.youve got official threads starting before games even announced now .a day or two early at most would be ok but some are posting em weeks before demos :D:D .maybe admin or whoever does the housekeeping on here deletes to early threads to save on the spammage that occur for like the first 5 or 6 pgs cause no one actually knows anything and the game its that premiture :D:D
 
i agree, official threads are annoying cause for one you never get answers and people break off into little conversations pretty much ot tbh
 
I dont mind them for the triple A titles, keeps all the new media in the same place as long as the OP takes on the official post role and keeps it updated.

If the OP purely does it to see their little thread grow then they go in my black book.

Yeah I agree there, cos you post a question in there, get ignored, start up a thread to get a response to your question and get flammed for not asking it in the "official" thread :mad:

Exactly, questions get buried under the mass of posts since one "official" thread is easily congested. Let's also not forget the Bioshock spoilers issue with that official thread.

I don't see the issue of having multiple threads for a game, dealing with different aspects of the game. There's really no reason against doing it because crap threads will quickly fall off the first few pages, and some people say "zomg bandwidth" but they obviously don't have a clue what they're talking about.

If Jeremy Clarkson were here, he'd be crusading against official threads. They're the bus lane of the forum.
 
I think we should ban threads concerning Crysis, getting fed up of hearing about it before it's even been released...
 
The only 'official' threads that work well are:

*Official <insert game here> Chat/Discussion [spoiler warning]*

I think that the 'big' releases should have a thread like the one above, where people can talk about rumours before release, then talk about stuff that they liked or didn't like when they played the game. People can post screenshots, talk about the plot/characters, whatever.

All questions and problems should be kept to seperate threads with their own USEFUL title, that describes the problem.

Writing any sort of 'official' tech support thread is almost always pointless unless the OP is prepared to do a lot of hard work keeping things updated. No-one wants to read 20+ pages of spam in the hope of finding new information.

Anything other than 'official chat/discussion' is usually a waste of time. As it almost always ends up being 1 good post at the start of the thread, followed by tons of pages of irrelevant chat.

And here. I don't really see a problem with multiple threads based on the same game as long as the thread is about something that's not been discussed at length somewhere else.
 
Down with official threads! You should be allowed to open a new thread anytime you have a question. it would make searching a lot easier.

What would you prefer? Search a question and get:

a) One 50 page thread to trawl through over an hour
b) 50 small threads with the same thing, and you will get the answer right away.

I like (b)

Far too many neat freaks around here.
 
sub-sections would be there to stop the clutter, and good posts wouldnt be missed with the hundreds of daily Crysis or Official threads
