Dear all,
Have just transferred to outlook 2010 from thunderbird due to a reconfiguration of our work e-mail server and IMAP/POP not being supported.
However, I have noticed a really annoying issue. Notification sounds for new e-mail work absolutely fine when I am using things on the desktop, but if I start gaming or anything like that which uses the full screen then the notification sounds do not play.
I've done a spot of googling, and this seems to be a 'feature' that was introduced in Office 2010 and I have confirmed this by just testing it on a laptop that has office 2007 and sound notifications work at all times. Sadly, though, I only have Office 2010 on my PC at home.
Mail alert (http://www.bettasoft.net/mailalert) a paid app, fixes this problem and I have confirmed this by the use of another laptop, but guess what, it only works on office 2010 x32 and I have the 64 bit edition
So, does anyone know of a way to get notification sounds working at all times on office 2010 x64 on windows 7 as I can see this being a right pain in the bum?
Many thanks for any help offered.
