my freinds has just bought a nice new msi laptop which has the same lg ips screen as the gsync one and a 970m.

The first problem we have came across is the nvidia control panel has no options like below.

as i would like to try up the hz range of the monitor but when doing this it just says the bandwidth is unsupported as i find its ftrying to use the intel gpu mainly as thats due to nvidia optimus ??

Any help on disabling optimus and getting options up would be great thanks.

Images over 1,280 pixels wide should be placed in spoiler tags as I've done for you.

Cheers

That Nvidia control panel is exactly what you'd expect to see on an Optimus system - it's the same on the Clevo 980M that I have in my laptop.

You can't disable Optimus either.

The reason is that it's hardwired to send data from the Geforce through the frame buffer of the onboard Intel GPU, meaning there's no way to use the Geforce alone.

If you want to ditch Optimus then you'd need a (much) more expensive gaming laptop, but you'd also be looking at only an hour or so of battery life as a result. As ever, it's a tradeoff!

(My previous laptop had a 560M and no Optimus. It allowed access to the full set of Nvidia options, but battery life was terrible... barely an hour. By comparison my current laptop's battery life is easily 3 hours for browsing etc due to Optimus.)

What so even the clevo laptops have this ? :( how do I set a custom resolution as when ever I try to bump the hz just says not an ough bandwidth due to the bull#*!? Intel hd4000
