Seems like there’s only about a dozen active Folders on Team 10 now. I remember the good old days when it was pretty busy in this forum :)

Everyone else just mining instead these days? I did a couple of evenings folding with the 3080 and shot up the table :)

Yeah I switched to mining. I did a hybrid at first sometime in 2017? Token called GRIDcoin where you folded on projects but they rewarded you with crypto token, but earn way more direct mining.

If they incentivised it and entwined with the folding it would attract some back I guess. Lots of people complain about wasted energy 'mining' well the solution lies there.. make the 'pointless calculations' fold for the projects would be a win-win!

I stopped many years ago probably around 2010, was folding for another team back then. but just reinstalled to see what's happening these days.
Points just made me laugh, looking at my history I'd completed around 2,600 WUs for a total of 1.2m points.

Running my first WUs & it's estimating I will do 3m points per day

Know it doesn't mean much these days but hit 1m PPD today, & 7.5m point in the last 7 days.
Not bad for 1 CPU/GPU imo when back when I first ran F@H I was lucky to do 1k a week with 3 CPU's :D

Unfortunately, I'm getting complaints from the wife on the electricity it's using although I've said it only works out to around £2.50 per day

I recently hit 10 billion points (only around 200m for OCUK though) but my electricity bill suddenly leaped to untenable levels so I'm down to an occasional unit per day.

I peaked at 600m in a month but my power bill jumped to £700 per month :(

Ah right, yes did that myself for a bit - assume this is 'for good' rather than commercialised? Just wondered if some pharmaceutical had thought to monetise it!
there were commercial medical projects (BOINC still runs) but Folding@Home is non-profit with all research being published. A huge amount of volunteers helped analyse the Covid-19 virus.

I did f@h for nearly 7 years. I stopped to go to mining. I think decentralised money is far more important than the decentralised medical projects now especially after the last couple of years. It used to be really hard to get up the ranking as well whereas now they don't seem to correct the points any more. Millions a day on a basic single gpu is just silly really. They really don't reflect the dedication and time some people have put in.

Did it on and off in the past, currently 109th in team 10 apparently :D No chance of doing it now though, I stopped mining also which I did after folding. Cost of electricity for running a F@H rig is well beyond acceptable now sadly.

Had a machine or two running for Team 10 a few years ago. Been difficult with two Kiddies in the house to keep the noise and heat down, not to mention the current electricity pricing issues. I could run during my cheaper 'charging' period , call it heating during the winter. :D I do miss the cameraderie and the positive benefits of contributing.

Having a dabble while it's cold, to keep my room warm. Only a 3060ti.

I used to do SETI a long time ago, fun times stomping and was a really good community (and I'm sure still is for those that are left!). :D

Hey guys, long time no chat!
I seem to remember that OcUK was quite the force in SETI back in the day :).
I also remember that OcUK started their SETI team just after I tried recruiting for TA '99-early 00s! lol

I only Fold for TA now during the winter race, which (like with you guys) helps warm up my lounge and so keep the central heating off at weekends, and works less in the week.
I only do the odd bit of any GPU crunching on cold winter weekends (re above).
Still CPU crunching full time so far though (just 1 rig).

I miss SETI@home. Folding and Rosetta have gone cold. I looked at other projects and see that some have an OcUK tag, but they're dead as well.
I can't find the Distributed Computing thread because I'm drunk, but if there are other projects I can back OcUK with, please let me know.
Should we start our own? Break world-record for pi (the first to find a repeat) or prime numbers? :D
