no overclock

I've tried a few times to OC my machine but as soon as i hit F10 the PC reboots and the fans just wizz right upto max speed and stay like that. It won't post or anything.

Spec is:

Athlon x2 4200 (65W) stock cooler
MSI K9A Platinum
OCZ modstream 520
Corsair XMS2-5400C4 (2Gb)

Any help is appreciated

I trust you've checked that the heatsink is seated properly?

Sounds like the fan spins at full speed to try keep the system cool, but then can't POST because of the heat?

I havn't touched the heatsink since I installed it. It is runnng now, but as soon as i try anything it spits it's dummy out

Might be a good idea to check your temps on stock?

currently at 30deg which is normal. I havn't seen the temp when gaming. the max i've seen it is high 40's low 50's

How much are you trying to overclock at a time?

dropped multiplier from 11 to 10, then slowly increased frequency by about 5mhz,
