No picture on HDMI display

Hi all,

I recently installed a new card in my PC, Radeon HD 7950.

With my old GTX 460 I had one DVI to the monitor and the second DVI was converted to HDMI and I ran a cable to my TV, it ran an extension of my desktop and was great for watching media on TV.

The 7950 only has one DVI port so that's on the monitor and I've plugged my HDMI cable straight into the HDMI port on the card. I get the hardware plugged in sound on windows and it shows up on my display options and it's set to extend my desktop, however I've got no picture on TV, just the default blue screen.

I called OCUK Tech support but there was literally no help there, I think I woke the guy up, it was a really difficult phone call.

Can anyone help with this?

If you move your mouse to the edge of the monitor screen, left or right, does it appear on your TV screen. I know if I extend my monitor screen that is what happens, so I just drag my media player onto the TV screen to watch movies. Your desktop will only appear on the TV screen if you clone your monitor.

No nothing. I just tried to drag this whole window over and it vanishes off my screen so the desktop is extended, there's just not picture at all on the TV screen.

Sorry for the late reply. Been absolutely slammed at work.

By clone the desktop, do you mean select "duplicate these displays" on the screen resolution screen? I've tried all the options and nothing happens.

There's just nothing showing up on the TV. It connects and shows up on my PC, just can't get a picture to show on the TV?

I'll double check the res and get back to you ASAP. I've not tried another cable as there were no problems until I changed to this 7950 card

It really winds me up when stuff just works, then it just decides not to.

I thought I would bump this thread rather than starting all over again as I've finally had some time to have another look at this problem and I'm not making any progress.

I've tried different cables and ports, everything shows up in Windows and Catalyst CC, the only thing that happens on my TV is the screen will intermittently go black for a few seconds then back to blue.

I've included a link to a screen shot that even shows the extended display!

Does anyone have any other ideas why the pictures just won't show up!? It worked fine on my previous card.
