hey guys,

Dont know if anyone is able to help me here, i have a hyundai l90d+ tft and a 6800gt gfx card. Everything was fine for ages and then one day i just had no picture on the monitor, its not a no signal issue because if i unplug the cable i then get the no signal message.

Its just that instead of the led at bottom right going blue, it turns back to orange and screen stays black.

Last time this happened i just changed from DVI to the normal cable and worked. But now this has happened again and neither cable will work, the monitor led lights up but then goes orange and no picture.

Any ideas on what it might be? monitor or card? Any fixes or input would be much appreciated.

Thanks all

As you probably know, the orange light normally indicates a monitor going into standby mode. So, either the Gfx card has devoloped a fault and is giving the incorrect signal to the monitor, the monitor itself has developed a fault, or the system is not actually booting. Does the monitor work whilst in BIOS?

Try re-seating the GFX card. Or, If possible, try the monitor on another PC.

Do you not get any post beeps?

Are you getting hard drive activity?

It's been said already, But have you reseated your GFX card? Is it securely screwed into your case? As when plugging in your VGA/DVI cable you can sometimes move the card if its not secure.

Do you have an alternative VGA/DVI cable you could use, As to make sure its not the cable at fault?

Thanks for the replies guys,

Yeah it just seems to stay on standby, i dont have another cable to try as tried both my vga and dvi cables.

Unable to get to bios as i cant see anything but the computer is definately booting and there is activity.

Have a friend coming around wtih his monitor and tower today so i will be able to do some more tests.

Like i said it happened when i used dvi a while back, switching to VGA fixed it at that time.

I did unseat the gfx card and reseat, also tried booting without it to see if was the mobo and got no beeps at all making me think the agp port was bust, but then i realised that i had unplugged my pc speaker :P

Any other tips or tests appreciated.

I had a similar problem, but mine went to standby when it got to the desktop, I just reinstalled windows and it sorted itself.

I had the same problem in a shuttle yesterday and the only thing that fixed it......changing out the ram sticks and sending them back to crucial under warranty. YUP - faulty ram caused the same symptoms as you have - go figure

Got ym friend here and tried his card which works fine :( my card doesnt work in his pc. Thats a 6800gt down the drain.

Shoulda got pci e when had the chance but stuck with agp mobo so very limited on a new card to get and been so long since i even looked at this stuff i no idea what is good.

What card these days agp wise is as goos as or better than 6800gt fro around 150?
