No picture (samsung syncmaster 206bw)

MY pc regonizes the monitor is there but there is not picture. When I plug in either a dvi or vga cable, I get a very dark picture for about 2 seconds than it just goes blank.

This monitor is used by my sister and parents and they always leave the monitor on, then they switch the power off by the mains. Could this be the problem?

I used this monitor for 3 years and it was fine then I gave it to my sister/parts for 3 weeks and its now not working right.

Any help?

Could be the backlight has gone. Do you have a spare monitor to try on that PC, or another PC to try that monitor on? You can then at least narrow it down to being either the PC or screen at fault.

I've tried the screen on two pcs. Its defiantly the screen at fault here.

In that case I'd say the backlight has failed. Probably not worth the repair cost (unless it still happens to be under warranty) I'm afraid.
