Guys,

I've just bought this barebone http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-220-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat= to keep me going until I have enough cash to buy a proper computer. I took the CPU and memory from an old Asus P5KC I had that does not work anymore and use in this new system. But when I connect the VGA cable from my Prolite E2407HDS monitor, I get no picture. The memory I am using is Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5 (1.80v ver3.1). What could be wrong?

Many thanks for your help.

Mathias,

Yeap it was working just fine on the old board. Know that because the fault was on the old board itself - I did check it and the pins are fine.

Thanks,

By barebone, do you just mean the motherboard you linked to?

Is the power supply plugged into both 24 pin and 4 pin sockets?

Try it with just one memory stick.

It's amazing the amount of people that forget to connect the cpu power up. It's the equivalent of forgetting to put the motherboard in the case.

Anyway, glad you got it fixed. Brilliant motherboard btw :D

One of my mates once asked me to come round and fix his PC because he bought a new graphics card and there was then no picture after he had installed it.

Turned out the plonker had previously been using the integrated graphics on the mobo and when he installed the graphics card didn't realise he had to put the monitor lead in the graphics card instead.

Some of the stuff people do :)
