My bedroom tv's are always 'hand-me-downs' and i recently swapped from a 07 Samsung 28" LCD to a 05 (i think) Panasonic 42" plasma

the Samsung only had DVI and VGA ports, so i used a DVI to HDMI converter (the stumpy thing thats used on gfx cards)

the Panasonic tho older has 2 HDMI ports

I had been running a HDMI switch to connect all my devices and seperate the digital audio, which worked perfectly on the samsung

swapping the switch onto the Panasonic, and i get pretty much nothing.. i tried several devices (RaspberryPi, NowTV, PS3/4 Amazon stick etc)

i would get a little flicker from the Amazon stick and it would show the Amazon logo when it boots up.. but nothing else

Dont really want to buy another switch if the same think will happen again..

just wondering if anyone as any ideas why it wouldnt work?

cheers

i think it's 1 HDMI input and 1 HDMI output on your Panasonic TV, you should connect the converter to the HDMI input of the Panasonic, and maybe you can buy a HDMI to HDMI+DVI+VGA converter. there're many similar products on amazon with nice price.

cheap HDMI switches are rubbish. decent ones cost too much money.

you ever thought about buying a HDMI in soundbar?

that way you kill 2 birds with 1 stone. stick all the hdmi inputs into the soundbar. then connect the soundbar to the tv by HDMI.

Try connecting another device on the tv... via hdmi and see if it works

definitely 2 inputs, all devices work connected directly to either port

Ah how times have moved on lol, i was thinking of upgrading my AV receiver to one with HMDI passthrough.. (mine only has component inputs!)

tbh tho this TV isnt great and it'd be far better to just get a better TV in the first place (that would have more inputs and a digital passthrough back to my existing amp..)

My hdmi switch needs external power.
Andi.

yes it is and has powered...

Its just strange how it works perfectly with another old tv.. one which only has a DVI input as well (convered to hmdi at the TV)

No matter, i am gonna get rid of this tv and get something newer.

cheers for the replies!
