No Portal 2 thread?

It costs the same as any other game...

Are people just moaning because the original Portal shipped as part of The Orange Box, so it was like it was included for free?

At the end of the day, this sequel is a fully featured sequel and I would imagine will have similar play time to any other AAA release.

Probably because Portal isn't exactly the most action packed game series out there. When you get games like Cod, Crysis, Halo, Uncharted and God of War that are packed full of action and fancy effects, simple gameplay without the overdramatic flair isn't enough for some.

Sounds stupid but, when you get games like the above that fetch £40, and then something like Portal comes along, people will think, hang on, why should i pay the same price for this, when it doesn't have the same in your face flair and less flashy content? Surely it seems you get less for your money? (At a glance).

Some people only judge games by their cover. Seriously if you take a gamer that doesn't pay attention to the finer points of gameplay, and give them a choice between Black Ops and Portal 2, both say £40 and tell them they can only buy one, i bet they choose the former.

because this game started as a free half life mod, so it doesn't cost much to make esp since they have amortized the engine a few times around by now. i loved portal, but i think £40 for it is steep, so i'll either rent it (since portal 1 was like 5 hours to play) or wait for prices to drop significantly - i'1m sure we will see tons in the in pre-owned bin after 1 week :)

Portal requires brains rather than twitch reflexes, which is a pretty unpopular distinction with the masses.

I've got it.
It arrived in the post today.
Missus and kids have just gone to bed.
So the xbox and telly are all mine.

Mine I say.

Miiiine

Finished it earlier, amazing game. Last chapter of coop left to do.

Glad I didn't play it on pad though. Saw comparison pics of the console version, the PS3 version looks a lot better than 360 which was surprising.

Stephen Merchant nails the voice acting.

I wouldn't bother with co-op purely because you can never get a reliable partner and playing with randoms is boring. So for just a single play through (not played Portal 1 more than once, as great as it was) £35-40 is just too much.

Wrong. Single player is easily 7+ hours, making it in line with other full priced games out there, the coop adds another few hours. (over 4 for sure)

For a game of this high quality, 7+ hours of excellence it's definitely worth it whether you want to play coop or not.

Some people will always complain though, price of game doesn't dictate how long it will be. Be glad you got the first game so cheap.

Edit: Also the PC version can be had for around £22, it will run on almost anything from the last few years even my MacBook can run it on a mix of medium/high settings with some anti-aliasing and that's got a graphics card equivalent to 2005 top end hardware.

I don't know how you work out that I'm wrong? :p

If you think 7+ hours with a bit of co-op added on is worth £35-40 that's fine. I on the other hand am not really interested in co-op so as I said, a single play through is not worth it for me.

The last time I bought a full priced game was Fallout New Vegas. For a game of that length I don't mind shelling out £40.

However, I'm glad you enjoyed it and if its as good or better than Portal then happy days.

damn psn is down again, so cant link the ps3 version with steam

me too was hoping it would be fixed for when i got back home but no :(
