hi all,

I need to lower my htt multiplier to 2x as my mobo is running at 275fsb, over 280fsb and it fails to boot the OS. My motherboard (epox 9nda3i) is only an nforce3 250 which supports a 1600FSB / 2 = 800MHz HTT and it goes over this whilst running @ 3x & 280FSB.

But the system just doesn't come up at 2x htt multiplier...any ideas why? is this too low for the system to function or something? also it wont post when running the ram @ 133MHz, but works fine when set to the remaining memory dividers.

When I say it doesn't POST, I mean the LED epox thing goes straight to FF and there is no display, until 5 seconds when it resets itself to the defaults until I enter the BIOS, save settings and exit.

I've tried the chipset vcore @ 1.75v and the vcore right upto 1.7v and I was testing the 2x at 275FSB which works fine at 3x. No vcore makes any difference to my overclock so it has to be the board limiting it or a very strange chip.

any ideas?

thanks,
ghgh

Sounds almost as though you are reaching the HTT limits of your board. If I recall 275-280HTT is generally where nForce 3 tends to crap out at.

I realise it goes over 800 with 280*3 but have you tried booting in like so?

I built a system with a Gigabyte K8NSC nForce 3 250 for a friend at that also went awol at ~270htt.

Yep - I can run it at 2800MHz, the processor is fully stable but it puts my ram over its limit - my ram can run at 228 max and at 280 it runs at something like 231 making the system not 100% stable and the system is much slower if I run the memory on the 100Mhz divider - no POST @ 133 divider and the 166 divider is the one I use normally.

I guess I'll leave it at 2750MHz for now until I can afford a new board and graphics card.

I've also got a k8nsc in another pc that goes to 300 htt, but not sure if this is stable.

Thanks,
