Hiya, wife has just called to say that the pc will not start....oh joy:rolleyes: Anyway she tells me that it started the first time (post beep and fans etc), but with no screen display, she called me and i asked her to power down and and turn off and the switch and try again. This time she says that there is no post beep at all and still no screen, but the fans are going.

Any ideas? stuck at work thinking about what it could be, so was hoping for a head start from you guys for when i get back.

Oh and been starting ok recently, a few weeks back i had an issue where it would freeze on the windows logo with the moving bar, but that went away and only did it about two times. Bar that all been good.

Thanks

Hmm, like mentioned above, i will check connections along with the connection inside, but tbh the machine has been working fine for ages now and nothing ever gets unplugged etc.

Not looking forward to having a night of investigating, kinda gone past the stage where i liked doing this kinda stuff:(

As for PSU, surely though the PSU would be ok if it powers something? fans etc?

Just been reading some posts about people having issues with the Asus p5k boards and not posting. Some people recommend turning all off from plug and restarting, some say taking the ram out and starting up with one stick at a time fixes it.

Can anyone add anything else to this? Prob is that i do not have any spares to test with anymore....

How did you fix it then? Just reading about people with cold start problems now, machine had not been turned on over weekend....

Hmmm won't be able to get mine replaced. Shame the P5Q seems to have the same prob

Will have a look later and see if i can diagnose further. Wish i could buy a mac....using trusty ol MBP to post here ;)

Right got it working by taking out the ram and trying in diff configerations. In the end i have it in Dimms A1 + A2, was in A1 + B1 before. Not sure if this is going to be a permanent fix or not, i guess time will tell.

Just a few things to check, in cpu-z it says that my mem frequency is 400.7mhz should this be 800? Mem as in sig.

Well....it's died again. Kinda looking like its the motherboard as everything else was working fine last night when i got the machine running. I have not tried, but i am guessing that if i swap the ram around into different slots again it will prob start up.
