Hi

i have an asus p5b. i tried to update the bios through windows and there was an error mid way. now it wont even post.

i have tried re-setting the cmos jumper and removed all but graphics card and one memory dimm but still no post (just orange standby light on the screen)

im not sure where to go from here. if i need to send it back to asus then how do i go about doing this?

also, as im inpatient, can anyone reccomend an alterantive cheap motherboard that will work well with my spec?

thanks

Does this have a 'crashfree bios' function ?

Basically you put a CD in and it will restore the bios rom in the evnt of a flash failure.

I know that my two Asus MBs do - with luck yours will as well .

i have tried putting the most recent bios file downloaded from asus onto a pen drive and inserting it then booting up.

i still get nothing, the monitor lights just stay on standby.

any other ideas on how to get this working?

thanks

hi,

You might not have it set to boot from a flashdrive in bios, I would try with the cd. For a failed bios flash I have to remove the jumper completely..not sure with your motherboard tho.
