I have the Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 and have just put everything together. When I flick the switch at the back, there is no light on the motherboard. I boot the PC and the fans spin, but still no motherboard light or beep, nothing comes up on my screen either.

I can't find any wires for the Chassis speaker header or the Power LED Header, everything else is connected.

I am stuck what to do next, any help much appreciated.

You have plugged in the additional 8pin atx by the CPU socket?

Is the kettle lead ok?

Is the wall socket ON?

The two powerLED pins are the two top left pins on the system panel header, perhaps you have the ± the wrong way around?

yes 8pin atx is connected

what is the kettle lead?

wall socket on, it powers up.

+ to the top far left and
- to the right of the plus

The kettle lead is the power cable from the psu to the wall socket, but you say the fans spin so it must be ok.

Try a clearCMOS? theres a button on the back.

The heatsink fan doesn't spin, I don't think the motherboard is even getting power. Will unplug and plug all connections and see what happens

All the fans that spin are connected to the fan controller on the case, not on the motherboard. The CPU fan is the only one connected to the motherboard and that does not spin. hmm

So if the case fans spin that also means the kettle lead is ok.

Is the CPU fan connected to one the four pins headers and not straddled across just three pins of the four.

Also on this board there is a post led near the bottom that should cycle through some codes when it boots up, is anything happening there?

Can you list system specs?

the CPU fan only has 3 pins, so I connected it to CPU_FAN2 which has 3 pins. CPU_FAN1 has 4 pins, I will move it to #1

No post led lights up, nothing happening with it. I'm guessing that is the DR.Debug.

Nope nothing.

This has turn into a nightmare now, I think the psu has gone altogether, it won't even start up anymore, I can hear a buzzing noise when I flick the switch on the back.

Thanks for the help so far, but now this has happened guess I need to try a new psu now. One problem after the other, sigh

You can also try the basics.

One stick of RAM, remove all the drives, remove the GTX460 (use the onboard connectors) and that will still get the PC to post.
