How do I get Windows 10 on my PC? I don't have the "reserve your copy of Windows 10" icon on my taskbar, but I am up to date on my Windows updates. Is there somewhere else I can upgrade or otherwise convert my W7 key to a W10 key (and from there i'll be doing a clean install)

Thanks.

I'm now upgrading to W10. Once It is done, my w7 serial will be a w10 serial, and I use the same little exe to create a bootable iso? and just install W10 using that in the bios like normal?

Your windows 7 serial will stay being your windows 10 serial. You are not given a windows 10 serial (apart for the generic one).

You will need to upgrade first rather than fresh install as that will register your mobo for windows 10. Then you can fresh install.

To create a bootable USB I would recommend using Rufus.

If you want to get a windows 10 key for yourself you'll have to ask microsoft and they don't usually hand them out - only when things go wrong as described in this thread.

I did it in the end- My PC was trying to boot to a "UEFI *USB STICK*" rather than just *USB STICK*.

I read that the "cd key" / identity of my Windows 10 licence is my hardware. What happens when I upgrade? Do I have to do Windows 7- upgrade to 10- clean install 10 again?
