No response from mouse

I've just done a clean install of WindowsXPpro for a mate but I can't seem to get the mouse pointer to work ....... tried a usb mouse and an old ps2 without any joy ........ ideas welcome.

Do you know these mice work otherwise? Have you checked to see if any mice are installed in the hardware manager(ctrl+pause/break is a shortcut to System Properties if you don't have mouse support)?

sorted now thanks ........ the ps2 was fubared and the usb wireless had switched off ...... I should have checked before posting....sorry!
