No Signal from GFX Card/PCI?

Hi all,

I'm putting together my son's new machine. I can't seem to get a signal from the GFX card to the monitor. I can get a signal via the MB HDMI slot, but not the GFX card.

I've checked the GFX card in my rig, works fine. Changed power lead from PSU to GFX card, no joy. I tried this because if I go through the MB HDMI when the GFX card has it's PSU lead plugged in, I can't get a signal from the MB then either, but I can when the GFX card is plugged into it's PCI slot with no PSU lead plugged in.

Any ideas guys, is it a dodgy PCI slot, or is there something obvious I'm missing, maybe in the BIOS?

The MB is a MSI Mortar Arctic H270m, GFX card is an ASUS DUAL GTX 1060 3gb OC version.

Thanks in advance

If you get no video signal from MB HDMI with GFX card in then MB is detecting the GFX card being present

There is a setting in the BIOS for which gfx card to try first eg onboard or PCIe, sound like that is set ok, but might be worth checking

Try different PCIe slot for GFX card

Hi Lurkio. Thanks for that. There is a setting in the MSI BIOS for multiple graphic sources , I enabled this and all was good.

Came home from work tonight, powered up and fans were running fast as if I hadn't set the fan controls in BIOS, which I had. I restarted ( took a long time to boot into W10) but couldn't get in to BIOS. Didn't get the splash screen, went straight to Windows after an age.

I jumped the CMOS and got in to BIOS and reset everything, but same again.

Is this simply a need to change the CMOS battery.

Thanks again
