im guessing this is why it wouldnt start up or even connect to a tv vga or hdmi?

ive ordered a new mobo now(not second hand) but i want to know might i have done this? all i did was fit the mobo and power it up once without cpu and gfx card etc to see if i got the fans/front bay cables right? or it could have been like this when i bought it considering it only cost £10 =/ what a waste

it was kind of sold as spares or repair but not because it was faulty, the seller stated that he didnt have time to check everysingle motherboard he was selling(at the time it was over 30 i think) so he was selling it like that. i have sent him a message and he said nobody else has had problems, im a bit ****ed off due to being skint already and i dont want to potentially risk breaking my new parts i got for it.

Never buy 2nd hand motherboards! or RAM.. What exactly is that anyway? looks like a copper strip but what does it do? Clearly shorted and friend the board.. :S

Are those copper strips? Looks to wide to be a signal trace, more emi shield or ground/0v,

If those flappy bits have touched another part of the back of the board anything could have hapened.

oh they where!, no like i say it prolly happened before i got it, i didnt smell burning or anything when i started it up, and it didnt shoot fire from the fans!

yes, that was before i got my other parts, and it all worked, the fans, leds, dvd, hdd etc all powered up and worked, so when i got my cpu and graphics i fitted them and it still powered up...it just didnt connect to a tv through vga or hdmi, i couldnt try dvi or a computer monitor.

So you fitted everything you had apart from CPU and Graphics card, powered up, then fitted the CPU and graphics card and powered up again, both times without a TV/monitor.

So there is no way of knowing if it was faulty when you got it!

the whole thread is about not getting a signal when i connected it to two different tvs, both vga and 1 hdmi, did you miss that part? =)

Did you miss the part were you said you powered it up without a CPU and graphics card.

There is now no way of knowing if it was dodgy before you got it or after, you could have had a moan to the seller if when you first used it, you had used a graphics card and CPU.

Buy another board.
