Hello,

Not sure which section I should post this so I put it here.

As title sais I get no signal on monitor yet pc worked fine.

I even managed to connect to it via teamviewer in my phone and see pc working and all 8gb ram working.

So long story:

I have an old pc q9550, P5q Deluxe, 8 gb Kingston ram with a KFA2 680GTX.
As it was sitting doing nothing I thought to use it for mining electroneum. All good for a week and then I decided to add a 970 in the mix.

I added the 970 yesterday and all was great, up to a point I noticed one of the cables was stoping one of the 3 fans from the 680 to work properly. No bigge, i removed it, fan started fine a few mins later black screen and no more signal on monitor only through teamviewer.

I hastily removed the 680 and left the 970 in still no signal (tried 3 different cables). tried this with both cards one at a time in each PciExpress16.

I removed the rams sticks and tried one at a time - still no signal- but teamviewer in phone was fine so i could operate the pc normally (on my phone screen though) and actually could mine.

Then i removed the CMOS battery and tried with the same battery, now i cannot even go to remotely connect probably it doesn't boot to windows now.

Any ideas what i am doing wrong and what i could do to fix this?

Have you tried removing the GPU and running of the MOBO graphics? Also try the RAM in different slots or try just having 1 stick in for now while testing.

Yes indeed i removed all sticks and tried one at a time on different slots. Thing is in teamviewer through my phone i could see the whole lot of 8 gb ram so that wasn't the issue.

So new update on this one which is even trickier.

Steps i followed:
1. I finally managed to get signal but only by using an old 470gtx that takes 2 x 6 pins from the psu. After setting up the bios correctly managed to boot etc.
2. Swapped the 470 with the970gtx - no signal again.
3. Put 470 AND 970 on, device manager recognized there was a VGA but not a number or anything. So I uninstalled every driver and reinstalled, then device manager recognized both.
4. 970 back on it's own still nothing.

So anywho when i have both I can even use the Electroneum Miner (XMR stak) and mine on both cards and even get good results on the 970. I just cant get signal out of it, tried hdmi and dvi. Funilly enough similar thing happens when i swap it with my 680 - get no signal, will test tonight if it works with the 470.

Could it be that the PCIexpress bus doesn't provide much power to feed the power hungry cards? The mobo was working fine with single 680 2 weeks ago.
I just bought the 970 used and was trying to make sure its working or to send it back..

I finally found the culprit.

The 970 hdmi is not working....
I retried the 470 where i got signal and re installed drivers and worked fine. Same with the 680 which i didnt have signal before and dunno why.

Once i put the 970, no signal. Thank my very old gpu that i had a dvi to vga cable to try and yep finally got signal from the 970!

So a dvi to hdmi adapter sorted me.

I tried so many things i almost bought a bigger psu..

Now mining with 470, 680 and 970 at the same time :D

:)
