No signal to LCD and CRT

This is a bit of a weird one. I think it may be my video card but I'd like a second opinion before I go and buy a new one.

I noticed last week when I booted up my computer that there was no signal to my LCD monitor (Samsung 226BW connected by dvi cable) during the POST and until Windows started. Once Windows started I also noticed a shimmering/flickering accross a central band of the monitor.
I uninstalled the graphics drivers and rebooted and got no signal at all either during boot or when Windows started. Using my CRT I reinstalled the latest nVidia driver.

I have tried using analog an cable to connect the LCD, this shows the boot screens but not Windows. Funnily enough, during boot the display stretched off the right hand side of the monitor.

I then connected my computer to my old 19" CRT and this time that showed the boot screens OK but not Windows.

And after investigation this evening I now cannot even see Windows (although my PC has booted as I can access it on the network).

The one common thing during all these attempts is my video card (BFG nVidia 7600). Although, if a video card was faulty I wouldn't have expected the PC to boot at all.

I would appreciate a second opinion on what might be causing this.

Thanks
Matt

Motherboard/BIOS checks only that graphic cards responses properly, it can't test operation of display outputs.
