Hi guys,

I've been trying to get an older Dell Precision 380 up and running with an R7 240. However, every time the card is chucked in I get no signal to the monitor.

I've tested the card in another machine and it worked fine. I've tried to reset the CMOS. I'm having trouble trying to find and install the MB BIOS. Pretty sure it's an issue with the motherboard now.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

As you have concluded, it's more than likely a motherboard/gpu incompatibility. Some can be sorted by a bios update but some are just too old and support was ended long ago. I have a horrible feeling this may be the case with yours. Bios version A09 (get it here) appears to be the latest for your Precision 380 but that was released in February 2007 and we have come a long way since then. There were many problems with pci-e 1.0 boards when pci-e 2.0 cards came out but the card you are trying to use is pci-e 3.0 and there may not be a fix at all for it.

Thanks so much for the reply and the warm welcome :)

I had a feeling that was going to be the case! Not to worry, was just an old work computer I was looking into getting into shape for a friend with a budget. Will probably go the G3258 route now.

Thanks again
