Hi folks,

I just received a PowerColor HD3870 X2 1GB GDDR3 graphics card. Once I have installed my GPU, I am keep getting a No Signal message from my Samsung 50inch TV. I am using a Ross 2m HDMI cable and tried two of my Sumsung HDMI ports and both keep showing a No Signal message??? I have redouble checked my cables and the power adapters for my GPU. I am using a 700 watt PSU. Which should be ok for this card as I checked the site as it only needs a minimum of 550 watt PSU. My motherboard is a LAN PARTY UT ULTRA D NF4 with a PCI-E 2.0 16x Slot. I tried all 3 of my DVI connectors with my DVI to HDMI converter and still a message, No Signal pop up when i switch on my PC. I put my old Geforce 6800 PCI-E GPU back into my motherboard with a DVI to HDMI converter as the Geforce does not have a HDMI port at the back and now i get my BIOS screen instead of No Signal. Now, I am totally stump???

Thanks for you help.

you need to configure the driver to run at a resolution and refresh rate your tv supports, no signal means your pc is sending a signal your tv can't receive.

How to configure driver???

Thanks for the reply,

So does that mean that i would need to change my TV settings or my driver settings on my ATI card? If my ATI card then how would i be able to change the settings if I keep getting a No Signal message. bear in mind that i just installed the GPU without putting any drivers for my ATI card. Could the Nvidia drivers preventing the ATI card to function, cause i was originally was going into safe mode to uninstall the drivers.

Thanks for the suggestion,

Boaby

Keep pressing F8 when the PC is booting. When you see a list of options after post, select "Enable GPU" (I think it's called that). Set your required resolution and then restart.

Update...

Hi folks,

Thanks for the replies. I have used my previous graphics card (Geforce 6800 PCI-E) to uninstall the display drivers. Now, i put my Powercolour Radeon 3870 HD X2 1GB special edition with professional cooling and still the dreaded No Signal screen keeps poping up every time. I tried both DVI-HDMI and HDMI to HDMI cables at the same time and both ports are showing that something is connected on my Samsung menu screen but both cables are showing a No Signal pop-up every time I switch on my PC. I can hear Windows loading the background but no display.

Just mention to the previous post. Do you mean keep pressing F8 while the menu go into Windows Advanced Menu Options while my screen is showing - No Signal - I would thought at the most basic level my Samsung should be able to display the BIOS information. I will try it. Back in a moment.

Thanks,

Boaby

Hi folks,

Just a quick update, I tried to do your suggestion J.D but while i am pressing F8 to bring up Windows Advanced Menu Options, my Samsung keeps displaying No Signal while my PC is loading up. Has anyone had any particular problem with the GPU i have with the Samsung? Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Boaby

use a monitor to make sure the graphics card is working ok... then if it is, set it up using the monitor not the TV... ie: set the drivers to the correct resolution for the TV.

Have you got a monitor? If so, test it with that.

If it still doesn't work then you could have a conflict with Nvidia drivers or a borked card. I'd do the usual driver cleaner in safe mode routine to make sure the Nvidia drivers are totally gone before trying again.

I would expect an "Out of Range" message rather than a "No signal" message if it was a res/refresh issue.

Ok, i will try my monitor.....

Ok, i will get out and test my new GPU on my old trustworthy CRT 20inch bulky monitor....man, it is a monster.

Indeed. As it's not displaying even the BIOS screen, it's far more likely that it's something to do with the graphics card not liking the mobo or some such.

Might need to update the mobo's BIOS.

This is getting a bit worrying now folks, i have tried 3 DVI to VGA ports on my new GPU on my monitor and i am still getting a No Signal from the GPU. So what does this mean now? I mean this new GPU is from Overclockers who have sent out a new GPU yesterday due to my original Radeon was faulty but the new one that i have now has a improved cooling system and an HDMI port which the previous one did not. Could this card be faulty again as i had waited for a few weeks for the new card to arrive.

Have you got a spare card to try? Try it out and also have a search around to see if there are any compatibility issues mentioned with your card and motherboard combination.

What i will do is to give the new GPU to a 2 friends to see if it works on his PC. If he getting the same problem, no signal message, then we can assume then the card is faulty?

Thanks,

Boaby

Yeah, i believe so. I am using the DVI to VGA adapters into my GPU and connecting my VGA cable from my monitor into the DVI to VGA port but every time I switch on my monitor the LED goes blue then into a orange light and a No Signal message appears. I tried all 3 DVI ports on my new GPU and is doing exactly the same thing.

Thanks,
Boaby

I wouldn't base any theory's on that as IME, DVI to VGA on old CRT's can cause some issues. My money would still be on driver conflicts but I would get someone to bring round a DVI monitor and test on that if you can for starters.

its not going to be a driver conflict since he is having issues outside of windows.

has your mobo got on-board graphics? if so try disabling it.

My mobo does not have...

The motherboard that i have does not have an integrated graphics chip. I think what i should do is to give it my mates to try but if they get a no signal on their PC, could we safely assume the new Radeon card is faulty?

Thanks,

Boaby
