no sound - advice

Hi - my laptop no longer has sound :mad:

. It has a realtek onboard card. Do you think my best bet is to do a clean install of windows. Then download the "original" realtek sound driver from the sony website (its a vaio FS285E). Or would it be better to download the "latest" sound driver ?

When did you lose the sound? Are you sure you haven't accidentally muted or disabled it? Is it showing as broken in device manager?

is sound enabled in BIOS, it may of been turned off in there somehow
