No sound and it shows nvidia high definition audio as default

My friend is having problem, there is no sound, and if you go to Sound in windows there is a list of monitors and one is set as defult saying nvidia high definition audio. I told him to disable it and install audio driver for his motherboars but windows do not detect sound card is there easy fix or it might me hardware problem?
In Device manager>Audio its only Nvidia hight definition

Is the motherboard sound enabled in the bios ?

Not much information to go on, more context is needed.

Was the system working previously? Is this a new windows install? Has the friend been playing around in the bios? What motherboard is it?
