no sound, but i do have sound on the "test" button ?

all i have done is change my GPU from AMD to NVIDIA

I did not install the sound part of the graphics installation

when i goto my Xonar thing in the system tray, put it on "test" and i hear the sounds no problem

but you tube, games, or what ever, i hear nothing

any ideas?


thought it might be outputting to my monitor again but its not

Maybe the sound is now be outputted through the graphics card or at least trying to be outputted that way. Check via the Control Panel that the sound is being directed to the Xonar card.

Checked there, now I can't find the right screen to re check it, device manager doesent help me

i got it , finally

went to control panel , and said to it "do not use this device"
there was 4 monitor setting "high definition"

Good stuff. Obviously it had defaulted to this when you installed the new graphics card.

It's old problem that Nvidia drivers hijack system sounds to HDMI.
