Down under mate!
So a weird one gents.

My daughters pc will not emit sound from the left speaker. If I plug my ipod into the aux port of the speaker sound works from both fine. If I connect from the front port headphone jack to the aux socket of the speaker windows sound from both speakers works fine.

Things I have tried so far.

Removed Asus DG and used onboard sound. Same issue of the left speaker not working.
Disabled onboard sound and used my second Asus DG to eliminate the first card being possibly faulty. Same issue of the left speaker not working.

Removed the DG and tried my Asus DX. Again same issue of the left speaker not working.

I have also checked to make sure the speaker balance is correct which is is.

My daughters pc is running Win 10
On a EVGA P55 FTW.

Basically I'm stumped. :)

1st rule out that the sound card is working properly by using a headphone plug straight to your sound card.

Have you tried using a different 3.5mm cable. I'm assuming here that the cable from the pc is plug to the back of the T40.
I have seen a few of this T40s with garbled sound, the problem was the cable.

Have tried a different 3.5mm cable. Have also as mentioned above tried 3 different sound cards, and I still get the same problem.

Wondering if it's a windows glitch/registry problem.

I would also guess it's something to do with Windows.

Different sound devices and the auxiliary input working fine suggest it's not hardware. Different sound devices use different drivers, so it can't be specifically that. The common theme is Windows, and it wouldn't be the first time Windows has caused a balls up in regard to audio.

Since Windows 10 came on the scene, I don't think I've seen so many audio issues since Vista.

Well I tried headphones and sound was fine in both ears. So it would seem the left speak is duff when the 3.5mm cable is plugged into the back.

Thanks for the help guys. :)
