No Sound from Xonar DG after windows update?

Basically, I left my pc running doing a windows update last night when i went to bed, i wake up to find i have no sound from anything!

I have a Asus Xonar DG 5.1 car, whihc i cannot get any sound from.

The front panel and also back panel audio provide nothing too!!!

I did a system restore to before the update and I still have nothing?

I have checked in my comp>device manager and there are no errors or anything detected by windows, i then tried updating the driver for my xonar and still nothing. I'm totally stumped.

Can anyone help?

Hmmm i just reinstalled onboard drivers and the onboard works. Still can't get anything from the dg though. Think it's knackered?

Can't see how an update would bugger it. When you updated the Xonar drivers, did you uninstall the previous driver? If not, I'd try uninstalling them, then install again. Not sure if that will make any difference, but it's worth a shot.

You're not the only person who's suffered from this issue.

I never did fix it, one day the drivers started working again for no apparent reason and then disabled updates. All evidence pointed towards Windows Update causing the problems because as soon as I system restored to before that date, or as soon as I disabled Windows Update I stopped having the issue.

It's really strange. I was going to RMA the card because i thought it was knackered but I actually do not believe it is. I did a system restore but that didn't help......i didn't uninstall the previous driver. Win 7 reports no conflicts but something really isn't right.

Ok: update, i just placed the original cd in the drive, and it came up with "Please plug in the DG audi device"!!!!!!!.

Hmmmm that windows update definatley did something. I uninstalled the xonar and reseated it into another slot. Sound is now working BUT, i can't get any sound through itunes/windows media player. Anyone shed any light on this or provide any help? EDIT: Ok just set the xonar as default sound device and now all is working again!

The update seems to knock the PCI drivers out, I've noticed problems with other devices too (WiFi for example).

Managed to fix it, system restore, unintsall xonar dg, open case up, re seat sound card, re install mobo and sound card drivers. working again, what a nightmare!
