After a fresh install of windows the other day, i put on firefox but i dont have any sound coming out when i go on flash websites, youtube, google video etc. Anyone have any clues about what i need to do to fix this?

Thanks

Having the same problem as this, done a bit of googling but its all for 'ubuntu' whatever that is.
did the op find a cure?
yup having the same prob, but i cannot get sound in I.e either, tried re-install flash but i just get now, i just wanna see that Red nose/ricky gervais sketch...with sound ;)

you're not using an nforce3 board are you? I'm having this problem on my spare-parts-pc at my parents'. It's an MSI K8N Neo 2 and I'm pretty sure the problem is just because the MSI utility for the onboard sound is RUBBISH. It won't let me select 2.1 sound and the jacks are all wrong, so I have to set it "6CH SPEAKER" and plug my speakers into the "Center/Subwoofer Speaker Out" - the rear speaker and front speaker out jacks don't seem to work

fixed it at last :)

a blatent cut and paste job

"Yes, I like everyone else out there have been having way too much fun on youtube. Now I have a Windows XP Pro 64 system. I use Firefox and on occasion (when I have to) IE 6. So I’m not sure when it happened, but one day I noticed audio wasn’t playing on YouTube videos.

The first thing I did was follow the Youtube “help” suggestions. I checked all my media applications. Check. Checked my system audio. Check. Checked across different browsers. Check. Still no audio. Just on Youtube.

I needed my Youtube fix! So I set out on my own, uninstalling and reinstalling Flash player (which Youtube requires). No go. Upgraded Windows Media Player. No go. I clicked on all kinds of stuff. I tried codecs, xvid, etc. nothing.
Cut to the chase this is what to do (or at least what I did): Went to this site: www.Free-codecs.com and downloaded K-Lite Codec Pack. Install this nifty little app. Then browse through your start menu: Start - Programs - K-Lite Codec Pack - Configuration -Codec Tweak Tool

From there click the button for: Fix non-working system sound

And that’s it! Don’t know what happened, or how it happened. And I’m sure this is a great little app that can do way more than what I used it for. So if you run in to this problem, try this fix for it.."

have you done this ? >
run>#REGEDIT.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
make a new entry.
-wavemapper-
right click where it says default.
modify
and enter >msacm32.drv

good luck, i hope you get it fixed.

I had similar issues and it wasn't anything to do with the sound util. Double check the jumpers on the board if you've used a front audio panel in the past. Couple of jumpers fixed my probs.

Sorry mate, forgot all about this :(

I've got a Gigabyte k8nsnxp and was experiencing problems with getting the front channels on my 5.1 setup running. Tried the latest nForce drives, the realtek drivers every software avenue possible. It wasn't till a read the freaking manual  that i noticed a page referring to the audio jumpers. Close to the rear usb headers are a group of pins that need a jumper added/removed if you're running a front audio panel. I don't have/don't use front audio so added a jumper and it fixed the prob.

Link to page in question: motherboard_manual_k8nsnxp_Page30.pdf

Hope thats of some help. Realise the mobos are different layout but its the same platform.
