No sound in web browser?

My mates computer is odd.

WMP Itunes ect work, windows sounds work.

But no sound in any web bowsers, ie or firefox.
Tried several diffrent files to get sound to work in the browser and nothing works.

WMP plugin doesn't work, streaming videos doesn't work.

I'm stumped. Is there a global setting just for browser sound?

No ideas what so ever? found a few results on google, but seem linux based, or don't have the solution.
