Hi,

A friend recently built a new system and he doesn't seem to be able to get the Creative soundcard to work at all.
He has this cardhttp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SC-052-CL&groupid=701&catid=11&subcat= and this motherboard http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-242-AS

Onboard sound works fine but he can't get a peep out of the creative card. The drivers installed currently are from the CD, this is because none of the drivers he's downloaded from Creative recognise the card.

He's not missing something stupid like having to activate the second PCI express slot or something? Also can anyone catergorically state what the current driver is for this card? Oh, this is on WinXp btw

Any help greatly appreciated.

cheers

I have the same card on windows xp but a totaly different motherboard. All I can suggest is make sure the onboard is disabled and try the following.
After installing the drivers off the CD you will get a volume panel come up by the clock. Right click this and then click select audio device. You then get a drop down menu with 2 choices, windows default or soundblaster x-fi extreme audio, select that. He might have sound then.

I also cannot get the latest drivers from creatives website to work, they just dont see the card, but the CD that came with it worked fine on both XP and Vista.
