no sound on external display

hi all,i got a cable to connect my macbook to my lcd tv(standard monitor type cable),but there is no sound coming out of my telly!!
i assume its because i need another cable to carry the sound.
am i correct?
any help greatly appreciated

Yes you need another cable. A 3.5mm audio jack to 2x RCA (Phono).
