No sound on iMac??

Hi all bit of an odd thing but only just noticed this fault.
Playing iTunes on my mac with no problems what so ever. Decided to play my iTunes tonight via my beats. Plugged into the back of iMac and for some reason iTunes doesn't output any sound. An album loaded into my docs and played through the built in media thing is fine but just nothing via iTunes.
Am i missing something here??

My iTunes moves its own slider to mute usually after sleep, maybe its that, I presume you've checked the volume slider at the top? :]

Other than that, no idea.
