No sound on new build

Hi,

New build using Gigabyte Z97X G1 Gaming with build in Creative sound. Have a set of logitech 5.1 speakers plugged in which I cannot get to play any sounds, even headphones wont.

Drivers are installed, creative's software is also installed. Volume is up. Go into settings and test the audio it says "Failed to play test tone".

Using Windows 10 build 10130 (the latest). I have a thought it may be W10 related, but so close to release you'd imagine they'd have sound working :confused:

Any idea where to start? I'm totally clueless!

first up ... just to check , does this board have hdmi ? try playing sound through a tv

It does have HDMI, but claims it's unplugged.

Does seem to have an output (the graph moves) when I test the optical output. I don't own anything optical to verify.

Can you plug the hdmi into a tv to test the sound and picture ?

Does the monitor have speakers ? and have you tried enabled / disabling all the options ?
