no sound over displayport?

Hi everyone, I recently bought a new ASUS MX27AQ, I plugged everything in but I was stuck at 1920 x 1080p (instead of native 1440p). I found some drivers from the asus website (inf) but I cant seem to install them, for some reason the monitor is not showing up in the device manager. So I tried switching from HDMI to displayport. This time I get the native 1440p resolution but no audio from the monitor (which is one of the reasons i bought this monitor).

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this issue? I tried reinstalling my AMD drivers but it didnt make a difference. Any help would be appreciated!

http://www.displayport.org/faq/ - I think it does.

Is there any point in me buying another HDMI cable and trying it that works? audio did work with HDMI, but the resolution was 1080 not 1440.

nop doesn't show up as a sound device
