Hi, Right I'm trying to fix my friends sound problem on her PC via MSN. She has no sound so weve tried the following:

First the obvious: in start->control panel-> sounds & audio devices all seems to be fine there, she has advance ac97 detected and al her sound options are correct and not muted and are same as mine set here.

Her speakers she has 1 cable with 1 green connector at the end and her pc sound section has 3 holes (not colour coded) with which it can fit into, none of these sockets produce any sound. Just like to add they used to work before she sent pc to a pc repair man about a year ago to remove viruses, since then speakers not worked.

On off chance she didn't have an integrated sound card and mr pc repair man had re-installed windows (she didnt know if he had) and he hadnt replaced drivers, i got her to run sandra pro to see if it would detect one. This only detected the advance ac97. so no nfo there.

So to sum up:

sounds & audio device settings match up correctly for an integrated sound card. Mute no on, volumes are up. Volume and on buttons are on speakers.
No sign of a PCI sound card inplace wihtout drivers installed.

We have got some interference crackle though.

Any idea anyone?

thanks in advance!
