No sound Realtek Digital Output on P8Z77-V LZ2 motherboard

I can't get sound from the motherboard even though the reak hd audio seems to be working on the system. I had sound originally but it was breaking up and now i can't get sound at all. It's the Asus P8Z77- V LX2 motherboard.
