a bit of a werid one this is, just brought a new sansybridge i5 2500k gladiator setup from another known pc parts website and done a fresh install of windows 7 64bit on it.

the motherboard is a msi p67A-g45 and my gfx is a gt8600

i used to use the hdmi audio though hdmi and picture though the hdmi in the gfx cars on my old q6600 pq5 deliuxe setup and it worked fine.

ive got the wire in for the hdmi audio but upon booting windows no sound....

ive tried all the sound otions its all enabled it even shows the sound bar boucing up and down when sound supposed to be playing but nothing though my tv :(

by a chance i put my pc to sleep and upon it waking again the sound then works completly fine.

so i restart the pc again and no sound till i put it to sleep and resume it and it works again.

what the hell is going on with it as its annoying considering i just spent £350 on new parts to upgrade my system and the old one worked better lol

any help and advise?

cheers

gaz

What does it say is the default sound device in control panel?

Also, does your 8600GT card have a S/PDIF 2 pin connection on the intenal part of the card and is it currently connected to the motherboard?

it has realtek digital output which is et to default
the speakers connection is greyed out as i dont have sound cable into the jack port
theres another one too that says realtek digital output (optical) but thats for the optical out on the board

yes i have the 2pin cable attached from the gfx card to the correct pins on the mobo, as when i sleep the computer and turn back on again the sound works fine, but when i shutdown and turn back on its gone again till i put the pc into sleep again

ive updated the bios, all audio and motherbaord drivers, even updated the nvidia gfx driver and the sound option is enabled in the nvidia control pannel to send audio over hdmi

its just very weird its one of the little niggly things, it doesnt bother me too much as i never shut my pc down anyway i mostly sleep it but its just i want the sound to be there the momoent i turn the pc on rather then having to load it up and then press sleep, then wake it up again lol

is your hdmi attached to tv or just moniter if it is just turn tv power off, comp is probably confused which source it should choose.

ive been there done that, its like theres a problem with the audio drivers on the board yet im using the latest realtek drivers for it
