I've just re-installed Vista and I've got no sound! It was working fine before in Vista but I needed to install it on a different hard drive and now there's no sound  . If I put the mouse over the speaker in the system tray it says 'No audio ouput device is installed'. I installed vista in exactly the same way as I did before, i've run windows update and its updated several things but nothing related to sound.

I looked in the device manager, and there are there are the little warning signs next to the following in the 'Other Devices Section':
-Linksys Wireless card (which i know doesn't work
-Multimedia Audio Controller
-Unkown Device

I dont think this came up before but I cant see how it's naffed it up when I haven't installed anything apart from windows updates  . Is there anything I can do bar a fresh install?

Try running Windows Update again. My soundcard drivers weren't installed after a fresh install but Windows Update found them and installed it automatically.

Thanks dalex, just did that and it seems to be working ok now. Just silly that it messed itself up second time round!

Going off on a bit of a tangent now but i didn't want to start a new thread. Since re-installing Vista I now I have two options of Vista to choose from on the OS selection screen during start up but only 1 works, any idea how to get rid of this?
