No sound with new card?

I have just placed a new ati 3870 card in. However i can't get any sound but is this anything to do with the card or connections with the card.
anybody got any ideas ?

If yiou have a realtek audio installed in your mobo, then go to the ati website and download the "realtek high def audio driver" for your card. I had to do the same when I first installed me 3870XT. Also, make sure you've got the correct dvi-hdmi adapter fitted, apparently it needs to be an ati one.

Thnx i'm downloading a update now however not from ati website, let you know if it works

could be that the card's own sound decoder has taken over as default, go to control panel, sounds and audio, audio tab, and check that the 1st sound device is your PC one and not the ATi put is enabled
