I've just sold me old comp 2 a m8, & he can't get any sound, the computer is an Evesham one with Realtek sound chip on, he's updated the drivers, and tried everything that he & I can think of. any ideas?

Do his speakers definately work??? I'd try rolling back to a driver that you know works, like the one supplied on the evesham disk.

he's tried that & his headphones which work. he's using his own hard drive with his own Windows software, then only things he has is the mobo, RAM, CPU, & GPU in the original Evesham case.

Since windows has been reinstalled using his software its most likely driver or direct x related. Run direct x diag to see if it picks up any sound issues. Make sure the sound, motherboard and communication drivers are all correct for the hardware and version of windows and check the device manager for any IRQ conflicts
