I'm just installing a new motherboard and am trying to install win7 on a new sad. I can get into the bios with full mouse and keyboard but once I get to the windows setup (via DVD) the screen blinks and I loose keyboard and mouse so cannot install.
What am I doing wrong here?

is usb legacy enabled?

try unplugging the keyboard and mouse out of the slots there in and put them in 2 other slots once ur on the windows install

Yes it is, the mouse is on until just before the windows keyboard prefs then blinks and both go. I've plugged into the usb2 ports but nothing.
I've now tried Ubuntu and both kb and mouse are fine in both usb2 and usb3 ports.
So it's got to be something to do with the windows 7 install?

Thanks

yeah i had this on a friends p67 board when installing windows 7 only thing that fixed it was once i was on the screen to install windows i had to switch what usb ports i was using
I was using usb 2 slots at the very top of the board then went to the ones lower down the board

Found out the issue was that the sata mode was ahci. When I changed this to IDE it all worked fine. I was then able to boot into an existing drive, change the registry setting and then change back to ahci. I'm now installing win7 on the new ssd in ahci mode.

Thanks again.
