No Valve games at E3

Episode 3 will be Half Life 3.

I am positive we will hear about it in 2011.
I've been saying that since 2008. :D I really hope they do show something sometime soon though, and I'm also quite convinced that it'll be Half-Life 3. Possibly with a new engine, they could use that at this point.

Meh I hope they scrap EP3, and make HL3 tie it into the events of the ending of EP2.

Its been long enough I thought the whole idea of episodes from Valve was that they could work on them and release them in a timely manner. lol :o

Steam is making them millions, they don't care about some crud add-on for an ancient game.

I'm seriously starting to question the actual existence of any further Half Life games. No DOTA2 when that is meant to release this year is also very disappointing.

They aren't mentioning DOTA 2 because its the wrong type of game for E3. E3 is for big flashy releases, not a PC exclusive remake of a mod for a old RTS game. Not saying it won't be good, but E3 is the wrong venue. Don't worry, there are some to go this year however.

As much as I love Valve, i'm really starting to get cheesed off with them :(

Why? They've released a game every year on average since the release of HL2.

Steam is making them millions, they don't care about some crud add-on for an ancient game.

Its not going to be an addon, Valve have stated many times in various interviews that the episodic idea didn't work out. I believe they are working on a full Half Life 3.

I love Valve, because i appreciate the finer things and because i am patient.

they don't rush their games, so i know that when EP3/HL3 comes out, it won't be a buggy unplayable aborted foetus of a game, it will be a smooth and polished gaming experience that puts all other game studios to shame.

Valve don't do the whole hype up a game that's not coming out for another 18 months like some people, we'll get news when it's nearly hear.

In the long run, I'd rather wait for Ep3 to be ready and to Valves extraordinarily high standards than wait. While it doesn't seem like it with everything else they've been working on and showing off previously, I'm sure they still consider Half-Life they're flagship series, so nothing short of perfection is going to be enough for them.

Oh and...

i couldnt agree more with this, and after that announcement about them not doing purely single player games in the future, they will take their time with HL3/EP3 incase its got these new multiplayer feature tests etc etc.

The next half life game will have a portal gun in it, in my opinion!

I have said it before numerous times...

I heart valve.

They could take the next 10 years to release HL3 and I would still love them.

Huh, I'd have thought DotA 2 would be on display, seeing as how it's apparently coming in the second half of this year.

As for HL3/Ep3, maybe after the aforementioned is released we'll hear something, if for no other reason than them having nothing else on the horizon. Yeah...it'll come when it comes, and an instant pre-order when it finally does.

Seems more and more likely they are holding out for the next gen consoles to arrive in my opinion. They have an audience in the console market now, and it makes sense for them to accomodate that as well - HL3 technology will probably require better console hardware to run it than what is currently available.
