ok i just bought some new components for my computer, I bought a new case (cm scout), another XFX HD 6870 (for xfire), and a new mobo (Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3h).

Now I installed the mobo, put in my cpu (Phenom II 965 x4) installed a cooler etc.. and put in both the graphics cards. Now i'm not getting any visual on my screen.

So I decided to do some fault finding, I checked all the cables they seemed plugged in fine.

So I took out the GPU's and tried using the onboard VGA, same result. PSU is 700w coolermaster. Please help :S

Edit: I also forgot to mention i put the ram in both the grey slots DDR3 1333Mhz 4gb because my heatsink covered up the top slot

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Do you get any sign of life at all?

Power supply and mains socket both switched on?

Have you made sure the power switch cable from the case is correctly fitted to the motherboard?

The 24 pin and 8 pin power connectors are both securely fitted to the motherboard?

Motherboard standoffs fitted?

Have you tried with each stick of RAM individually in different slots?

hi thanks for the reply, I was trying some more fault finding whilst waiting for a reply and i switched the ram around the slots. I put one in the grey slot and one in the blue. And it started up. with the crossfire gpu's in as well. But the downside to this is it will be SINgle rail RAM not dual, any suggestions?

Try putting the setting for your RAM (speed, timings and voltage) manually in the BIOS and then try dual channel again.

Possibly your motherboard doesn't like running dual channel in the grey slots and needs to use the blue slots first.

I take it you bought RAM with tall heat spreaders if it won't fit with the CPU cooler?

Yeah I managed to get them both in the blue slots, same result. Not sure what i should put the ram manually as in the bios :S

So yeah atm I got them in Blue and White slots and its reading 4gb so I know the ram sticks are fine.

Hey I'm having another problem, i think its graphics card related. My computer is randomly restarting and just before it does my screen like glitches up.

even when i leave my pc idle its restarting

Did you check you had connected both 24 and 8 pin connectors as Surveyor suggested?

What happens when installing the cards in single card configuration? Try both cards on their own to eliminate either one being faulty.

What PSU do you have?

Did you do a fresh install of windows?

No fresh install of windows, psu is coolmaster 700w. 24 and 8 pin connectors are in fine im sure. Another thing is catalyst is not showing my other cards clock speed and When i change the fan speed manually it doenst change it on the card :S

Edit: just checked again and now it shows the clock and lets me change the speed. Whats going on? :S

Just got a bluescreen after running a few games like lost planet 2 direct x11 and was getting good fps. Then my game closed down and it said Driver is not responding, then i loaded up firefox and boom bluescreen.

Did you do a fresh installation of Windows because your answer at post #8 isn't clear?

Try to eliminate the graphics cards or the RAM as causing the problem.

Try running with 1 stick of RAM and 1 graphics card.

If you get problems swap out the RAM.

If you still get problems after that swap out the GPU.

I got a bluescreen after my computer was sitting idle, I managed to get the code written down if it helps, also i will try what you said.

Bluescreen code: 0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF88004CB70C7, 0xFFFFF8800A1C39E8, 0xFFFFF8800A1C3250)

Just waiting for it to bluescreen again and then i'm going to do the fault testing.

I did not do a fresh install of windows either.
