No WiFi with GPU installed

I've finished my first ever pc build, on a budget.

I have an old MSI H61M-P31/W8 with an Intel Core i5 3570K and 2X4 GB of DDR3 Team Vulcan 2400 (XMP enabled and it runs at 1600 although I have tried with a single DIMM of 8 GB at 1333 with no change.). A Sandisk SSD Plus 480 GB for the OS which is a fresh Win 10 Pro install. I also have a seagate 500GB HDD installed and the network card is a D-Link DWA-556 wireless n PCI-E x1 802.11n. The system has worked brilliantly in this configuration with a 3.8ghz overclock. The last part of the puzzle is my GPU, an EVGA Geforce GTX 760 SC. As soon as this is plugged in my wifi is unusable. It can see networks but has such a poor connection that chrome times out and it's pretty much unusable.

My first suspicion as to the cause hinted at by the interweb was that my PSU (a Hiper Type R 480W) was not man enough or 'good enough' for my system. So I upgraded that to a Seasonic SS750, but unfortunately there was no improvement.

So i swapped my wifi card for one in my sons PC (i don't know what it is other than it's a Asus) and that performed exactly the same.

So I deduce that there's an issue with my GPU or my Motherboard. So without another GPU to try, I rolled back my Bios firmware out of desperation but that yielded no improvement either.

So now, I have no other ideas except perhaps some PCIE options in the bios which I do not understand so I seek your guidance.

Do you think this configuration is possible? I have an i5 4670k in a dead Mobo so if i have to change the Mobo I'll switch over to an LGA 1150 but i would like this to function as an entry level gaming rig for resale.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you

No body have any ideas?

I've been told that my dead Mobo with the 4670k is dead due to a failed bios update. I can't get it to post so i've ordered a new pre-programmed bios chip and will have a go at replacing that in an effort to solve this issue, and because it'll be a learning experience too! in the mean time i have to play the games that i can offline, and remove the GPU when i need internet connectivity.
