Well about two weeks ago i received my new Advent Netbook (the identical but rebranded MSI Wind). I think its a brilliant little thing that suits my needs perfectly except that it can't find any wireless networks anywhere!?!?

I've placed it right next to my wireless router and it still doesn't pick anything up, even though my old Dell Inspiron and my mobile (Samsung Omnia) both have no problem finding or connecting to it. This is not just my network, it doesn't pick up anything anywhere - e.g. in travel lodges and cafes which have wireless (which again my omnia finds with no problem).

I have browsed every connection menu/option list in the XP control panel and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

p.s. sorry if this ought to be in the laptops forum, wasn't sure and didn't want to post twice.

It might be the arials have become disconnected from the wireless card, on a lot of laptops it's under a little flap underneer and is quite easy to get to.

If it's a pain to get to RMA it.

Is it definitely enabled? Check in bios and any buttons/switches on the unit.

What is the wireless mode? B/G?

Check your router is outputting the correct mode.

If you haven't already, make sure you have the latest wireless card drivers from the MSI website since that laptop is known to have issues with making stable connections via wifi.

Ok problem resolved, it turned out it was on a function button ("Fn"+"F11") and i only found it by messing around tapping random key combos haha. Checked the users manual and wasn't listed there - most useles manual i've ever seen!
