Does anyone else find these things impossible to use?
They state pull through the fan, in many instances there is no way you can reach the peg to pull it through the fan, as its in the back corner of your case blocked off, or if you have two fans mounted side by side, who can't get at the rubber peg for the second fan to pull it through. Is so frustrating, been at it forever with needle noise pliers. Is prob easier if you fit the fans when the case is empty, but still a ball ache if you are mounting fans side by side etc.
Im losing my mind and thinking of just using conventional screws. Will it make a difference?

Was in a similar bind yesterday trying to fit the 140mm one in the top of my BeQuiet 800 - in the end managed to pull through three of the rubber plug things for the easier to get at corners but just screwed in the back inside one. Can't see it making a difference, as long as you can't wiggle it by hand it should be safe.

Long nose pliers work best, but sometimes you break the rubber mounts because you have to stretch them at the narrow end for the fat end to squeeze into the screw hole. Sometimes the narrow end just snaps off.

It's just as easy to screw them in, often easier because you don't have to reach the inside of the screw hole, just hold the fan to the case. Either use some rubber washers for anti-vibration, or just screw them in nice and tight so they don't have anything to vibrate against.

Nice to know im not the only being driven insane by this. I wood have thought there would be a more sensible way to design these.

Yeah i think since they have anti vibration pads on the corners, if you couple that with a screw with a soft rubber washer that would stop a lot of vibration, even without the washer

I think their rubber mounts should plug into the fan first and then there is a seperate flat piece of rubber that mates with the first piece would be a more clever design. I thought noctua would do better personally

It works well if you can reach the end of the mount with your fingers. Then you just stretch it out, and it elongates along the whole length like a rubber band, and the bit next to the end stop just pops into place and acts like a rubber washer between the fan and the case, with another rubber plug on the other side to hold it in place. When it works, it works well.

However, it's a pain in the ass to get it right, especially if you can't reach the end of the rubber and if there's not enough room to stretch the mount out. It's even worse if you then want to remove a fan for any reason and then try to remount it.

After far too much time messing about, it's simply easier to forget about the rubbers and use the screws. The big thing is simply to be able to screw in from the outside of the case, and not have to try and faff about inside the case where there isn't really any room to work at that point. It's just not worth the hassle, and probably why Noctua provides the screws as well as the rubber mounts.
