No, it will not! The i7-4790K is specifically excluded in Noctua's compatibility list for the NH-L9i which says 'Cooler cannot handle base clock'.

I just googled "Noctua's compatibility list" and found the info... Thanks!

I'll see if I can find a non K or S,T instead.

I have a spare i5-4690T but I'm away from home until next Tuesday. You'd need to have been here long enough and have enough posts to gain entrance to the Members Market though.

Didn't actually think about the actual cooling part, just if it would physically fit...

You could just undervolt/underclock the K CPU assuming you already had it. Seems needless to buy another CPU.

The L9i is not much better than the stock intel cooler. Wouldn't bother with it

How tall is a stock cooler, would it fit in a 1U case? :confused:
