Building a new system soon and plan on doing an air build. As title will that cooler be okay for the 7800x3D. I don't want to limit the CPU in anyway in bios settings, the CPU is slot of money for me do I want to use it.

Edit also is it 100% ram clearance?

They're hot running CPUs, especially at default settings, but yes, a high-end cooler can handle a stock 7800X3D. Games are usually no problem either way.

If you don't already own the cooler, there are better value options if you're on a limited budget.

Thermalright PS120SE is a better cooler and much cheaper.

I'm doing a non RGB build in a Asus ap201 case so it's all mesh no window. I don't mind paying the extra if it does the job and lasts a long time. Got to keep in mind it's a Marx build and I need to make sure it's okay on memory clearance. I do plan on getting low profile memory.

I wouldn't expect any difference in longevity as they use similar types of fans, and nothing can really go wrong with a chunk of metal. The NH-U12A will work okay with a 7800X3D if you want to pay extra for the brand name.
